Pupils move into Woodpark Primary School
Construction workers who created the new Woodpark Primary School in Lesmahagow have given pupils a helping hand as they move into their brand new building.
Construction company Morgan Sindall has created the new state-of-the-art £6 million school as part of South Lanarkshire Council’s £850 million Primary Schools Modernisation Programme.
“It was great to help the children finally move into the new school as we’ve developed a great relationship with everyone at the school during our time here,” says Morgan Sindall project manager Tom Blair. “We involved the pupils in the construction of their new facilities throughout the project to give them a real sense of ownership over their new buildings and it was fantastic to see their faces as they got the chance to settle in.”
He adds: “The new school provides a fantastic learning environment with a host of environmentally-friendly features including a biomass boiler which will turn recycled waste into fuel to heat the building.”
Woodpark Primary School’s head teacher Maureen Farr says: “We are absolutely delighted with our new school and have settled in well. It really is an inspiring building and a wonderful environment to learn and teach.”
