Morgan Sindall wins £2.5 million Hemel Hempstead office building scheme
Morgan Sindall has won a £2.5 million contract to create office space in Hemel Hempstead for Dacorum Borough Council.
The firm will create two buildings at the new Maylands Business Centre in Eastman Way.
The first two-storey building will create an innovation centre complete with individual offices for council administration staff, in addition to first floor space available for new starter businesses to rent. The second single-storey building will create 18 separate industrial units for small businesses, ranging from light manufacture to storage and maintenance.
“We are thrilled to be working with Dacorum Borough Council to create modern office space for new businesses,” says John Homer, Morgan Sindall regional managing director. “As a local company we are constantly looking at ways to support businesses in the community so we are delighted to be delivering this scheme. The new offices will offer state-of-the-art facilities to help kick-start emerging businesses.”
The buildings will consist of a steel frame with a mixture of metal and composite cladding and face brickwork.
Morgan Sindall is working to achieve a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating of Very Good by installing a biomass boiler fuelled by wood pellets and a rainwater harvesting system.
