Morgan Sindall Construction welcomes new Southern Home Counties director amid strong regional growth

News |

Morgan Sindall Construction has welcomed Guy Hannell as area director to oversee its Southern Home Counties division following strong performance across the region.

With offices located in Brighton and Kent, Guy will lead activity across the region which covers Sussex, Kent and East Surrey, and is part of the company’s wider London and Home Counties business.

With over 20 years’ experience in the sector, Guy is a strong advocate of early collaboration throughout the procurement, design and construction processes to drive value and minimise risk for clients.

Despite challenging conditions, Morgan Sindall Construction’s Southern Home Counties region has enjoyed a productive start to 2020, with a number of key projects across the region being handed over ahead of schedule.

Morgan Sindall Construction is working with Brighton & Hove City Council to upgrade facilities for children and young people with SEND under the council’s five year Strategic Construction Partnership, which launched in 2018.

Under the partnership, the company recently completed an extension and refurbishment project at Hill Park School, a maintained specialist school for pupils aged two to 16 with either a moderate, severe or profound learning disability.

Morgan Sindall Construction has also recently delivered 12 brand new homes in Hangleton ahead of schedule, as part of Brighton & Hove City Council’s New Homes for Neighbourhood programme.
The development provides much-needed affordable council housing in the area, while also giving residents high-quality homes with modern living space and will be among the first tranche of properties advertised under Brighton & Hove City Council’s lettings scheme since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown.

In East Sussex, the company is working with the county council to develop a new teaching facility at Hailsham Community College adopting an innovative solution that incorporates modern methods of construction to minimise programme period and disruption on a congested site. This follows the successful completion of Hailsham Primary School for the same Academy.

The company is also working alongside its public sector partners to deliver innovative methods of construction to drive forward the sustainability agenda and help to address the challenge posed by the climate emergency, which many regions, including Brighton & Hove City Council have declared.

The company has enjoyed a long working relationship with West Sussex Estates Partnership Limited and NHS Property Services, delivering a diverse range of healthcare facilities at Crawley Hospital; encompassing £12 million of projects over the last three years. Working in live healthcare environments requires extremely careful planning and close collaboration with clinicians and estates staff.

Guy Hannell, said: “This is a highly connected, collaborative business unit and I’m delighted to have joined Morgan Sindall Construction. We are an innovative, focused business that is committed to working closely with our public and private sector partners to deliver sustainable regeneration that will create a positive legacy.
I am passionate about working with clients throughout the development lifecycle from design to delivery to maximise value and minimise risk – importantly, early stage engagement enables a strategic approach to social value, embedding this in the fabric of each project from the outset with a long-term view to supporting and enriching our communities.
Our locations and connectivity mean we’re closely linked into our counterparts in London and able to work seamlessly with our colleagues across the wider region, with the autonomy and flexibility that the company’s wider decentralised structure enables. I look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundations in place to develop and empower our people, and grow and strengthen the business.”
