Morgan Sindall Construction completes luxury Vita student scheme in Southampton

News |

Morgan Sindall Construction has completed work on a brand new 435 bedroom Vita Student complex in Portswood, Southampton.

In addition to the 435 studio bedrooms, the Portswood scheme, which consists of Belmont House and Grosvenor House, also includes extensive communal areas, including a tiered cinema room, private dining room, a 24/7 accessible gym and a games area.

Portswood House has been delivered to a ‘five star’ standard and features fully self-contained studios with high quality kitchen and ensuite facilities. Sharing the same modern aesthetic of all Vita Student schemes, the building is split into three tiered buildings and features four main room types; deluxe, premium, classic and lite, as well as an ‘accessible room’ which is a studio adapted to meet needs and requirements of the user.

The project was procured via Vita Group, formerly Select Property Group. Morgan Sindall Construction is currently delivering two other projects for Vita Student in Birmingham and Nottingham.

Jon Daines, area director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the South, said: “We’re very pleased to have completed work on such a significant scheme for Vita Student in the heart of Southampton’s student district. Portswood House has created hundreds of new high-quality bedrooms which have raised the standard for student living in Southampton, creating a stunning home for students to live, study and socialise all under one roof.”
Allan Hemphill, chief development officer at Vita Group, said: “Our Vita Student Portswood scheme is our second in the city and it’s great to see the new evolved product live, complete and hear the positive feedback from our customers.”

Morgan Sindall Construction is currently on site at major schemes across the region. In Southampton, port owner ABP is investing a further £15 million to transform and expand the port’s vehicle handling facilities. This will be the eighth multi-storage deck facility at Southampton, which is the UK’s leading vehicle handling port. The project is the latest stage in ABP’s £50 million expansion of automotive trade at the Port of Southampton.
