Morgan Sindall Construction commits to making a difference in Yorkshire following double YORbuild appointment
Morgan Sindall Construction has reaffirmed its commitment to driving economic growth and creating social change through its projects in Yorkshire and the North East following its appointment to both lots of the YORbuild Major Works Contractors framework.
The successor to the YORbuild2 framework, the Major Works Contractors Framework is collaborative regional construction framework for the delivery of major building works projects worth over £10 million primarily for the Yorkshire and Humber region’s 22 local authorities, other regionally based public sector bodies and third sector organisations. It will be managed on the organisations’ behalf by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Leeds City Council, Scarborough Borough Council and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
Morgan Sindall Construction has been appointed to both lots of the framework, with Lot 1 designed for projects of £10 million to £30 million and Lot 2 for projects of over £30 million.
Andy Hall, managing director for Morgan Sindall Construction in Yorkshire and the North East said: “Our focus following this appointment is to further build upon our position as a business that improves the communities in which we work by creating significant economic and social benefits through the way we operate. We look forward to working with YORbuild, our supply chain and the workforce across the region to develop programmes that help create real social value and enable the development of sustainable communities throughout Yorkshire.
“Our recent relocation to a new office in Wakefield combined with this appointment means we are well placed to support public and private sector partners alike in delivering large scale projects over the coming years. While there will be uncertain times ahead due to the impact of COVID-19, it is through a commitment to the importance of collaboration and community alike that will enable us to deliver projects that when complete leave a transformational legacy beyond the buildings themselves.”
Steve Baker, YORhub procurement lead and joint chair of operations said: “We were delighted with the number of major projects successfully delivered through the YORbuild2 framework on a collaborative basis and look forward to building on this success with the YORbuild Major Works Framework over the coming years working with some of the best regional and national firms.
“Major Works is a prime example of the public sector and the private sector working together to benefit everyone and support the local economy.”
