Morgan Sindall boosts hospice funds with £3,000
Staff from Morgan Sindall have donated £3,000 to St Luke’s Hospice, Plymouth.
The money was raised during a special golf day held at Bovey Castle on Dartmoor, organised by Morgan Sindall for the company’s customers.
“Everyone is having a tough time at the moment and that’s why we feel it’s even more important to support local charities,” says Carl Heslop, Morgan Sindall special works manager. “St Luke’s Hospice is so important to so many local people which is why we wanted to do something to help.”
Annual running costs for the hospice amount to more than £5.5 million but government funding meets less than 30 per cent of that figure. This means that each and every year St Luke’s must find ways of raising £3.8 million from the communities it serves in order to remain open.
Every penny raised for the hospice is always put to good use. Whilst one donation might be used to pay a gas bill, another might fund a vital new piece of equipment or go towards funding the salary of a highly skilled specialist nurse.
Corporate fundraiser Lorna Baker says: “At St Luke’s, we have to raise more than £3.8 million each year from the communities we serve across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall. The help we receive from local companies is vital in helping us to raise these funds and we can’t thank Morgan Sindall enough for the support they have shown us. The money they have raised will go a long way and will help us provide highly specialist palliative care to our patients.”
