Morgan Sindall and VINCI Energies joint venture signs framework agreement for overhead line work
MSVE Transmission, a joint venture between Morgan Sindall and VINCI Energies, has signed a five year framework agreement for electricity transmission overhead line work with SHE (Scottish Hydro Electric) Transmission plc, part of the SSE plc group.
The framework took effect from November 2013 and will involve the design, supply, installation and commissioning of new-build 132kV, 275kV and 400kV overhead lines as well as the refurbishment and upgrade of existing overhead lines in northern Scotland. Projects under the framework will typically vary in value from between £5 million and £50 million.
The joint venture is already reviewing the initial batch of projects which are currently in development stage and are due to start on site in 2015.
Simon Smith, managing director of Utility Services at Morgan Sindall, says: “We are delighted to have secured this contract and look forward to working in partnership with SHE Transmission plc. This contract award was a key target for us and further establishes our growing capability in this market area.”
Rochdi Ziyat, Managing Director of VINCI Energies UK added: “MSVE Transmission was awarded its first overhead line contract in 2011, with National Grid, and since then has invested in a programme of training and development to ensure that it is well placed to carry out this specialist work and meet the UK’s future overhead line requirements.”
