Shaping the UK’s energy landscape
Providing specialist energy generation facilities complemented by multi-disciplined in-house design expertise
- Upgrading fossil fuel power generation facilities to increase efficiency
- Providing expertise in biomass fuel handling and storage facilities at both ports and power stations
- Developing renewable energy supply facilities for industrial and commercial end-users
In response to marketplace demands, the UK’s energy companies are seeking to increase the capacity of their networks while minimising environmental impact. To help our customers meet these challenges, we provide engineering solutions at all levels of electrical and thermal energy generation.
Working for power station companies and private developers, we provide upgrades, conversions and new-build solutions for centralised electricity generation, supporting the development of fuel supply and waste management facilities.
By delivering integrated solutions for on-site distributed generation of heat and power for local use, often with waste management opportunities, we help customers meet their own needs in a sustainable manner. In addition we offer complementary services from technical and commercial viability assessment, and front-end design (including planning and permitting, funding, construction and commissioning), to operation and maintenance.
We are strategic partners for a number of water asset owners – our work includes two anaerobic digesters at Cardiff and Afan for Dyr Cymru Welsh Water, and a Combined Heat and Power plant in Esholt for Yorkshire Water.
We have also delivered civil engineering works for the co-fired biomass facility at Drax Power Station in Selby, North Yorkshire, which made the station the largest co-firing biomass plant in the world, and the £31 million Heathrow Energy Centre, which provides heat and power to Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2a and 2b as well as supplementing heat to Terminal 5.
