Morgan Sindall Infrastructure has been delivering asset replacement and rapid response works above and below ground in the Midlands since 2002. In 2014 we were awarded a '3+1+1' year framework for the delivery of all excavation works associated with the installation of low voltage cables up to 33kV, including the provision of a 365 day / 24 hour fault finding and rapid response service.
The work included complex programming of multiple teams to deliver both planned and reactive works as part of the framework.
The framework also included the provision of buildings, civils and ground maintenance works associated with more than 7,000 substations in the region. In addition we also delivered an 18 month overhead line framework for the refurbishment of circa 1,000 woodpoles and 70 kilometres of 33kV overhead lines.
Enhancing communities
More than 97 per cent of the people employed on the contract lived within the delivery area. The majority either live in Stoke or Mansfield both of which have seen a decline of their traditional industries (pottery and mining respectively)
Improving the environment
The framework diverts 98 per cent of excavation away from landfill, and reuses the aggregate with the framework.
Working together with our supply chain
The framework has adopted the use of hand held devices to enable real time data capture. This has reduced both the level of paperwork and the number of vehicle movements.
