Improving the environmentThe project is designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, and uses the Building Research Establishment (BRE) Green Guide specification for all material choices. The building features rainwater harvesting systems, localised Passive Infra-Red (PIR) operated solenoids, roof-based photovoltaics and air source heat pumps as part of a sustainable approach to design.

Parts of the existing hospital remained live during construction. We continued to work closely with our customer to ensure as little disruption as possible to patients during the construction period.
