Sherborne Girls' School is a full-boarding and day school based in Dorset. Morgan Sindall is delivering a state-of-the-art creative arts centre for the award-winning school.
The centre will join three of the school's departments, including a new home and facilities for their music and drama departments as well as linking to the school’s art department. The foyer adjoining all departments will provide a prominent display space for the students' work, and provide a central meeting place for the school community.
The school has an exceptional tradition and focus on music. Not only will the building create flexible recital space, soundproofed practice rooms and fully equipped recording studios for the benefit of the students; but it will also provide an outstanding facility for the school to stage performances and draw in musicians and audiences from beyond the immediate school community.
Improving the environment
In keeping with the countryside setting, the timber-framed structure will ‘sit low’ on the campus, as the site slopes southwards, ensuring that the views to hills from existing buildings will not be lost.
“We are delighted to be working with Morgan Sindall on this very exciting project. This new building brings the key creative areas of school life together, to provide an inspirational hub at the heart of the school.” Jenny Dwyer, Headmistress
