A model for success
Using Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a technology and method of working that allows project stakeholders to collaborate in new ways, typically by using a shared multi-dimensional computer model to represent both a facility’s physical and functional characteristics.
Our teams are already realising the cost and time-saving benefits of this new way of working using BIM technology on projects including Haymarket Station in Edinburgh, Network Rail’s Manchester Victoria Station, Beal High School in Ilford, and through Morgan Sindall Professional Services working on Gatwick Airport’s Pier 1 redevelopment.
The immediate benefits of adopting BIM include:
- Faster comparison of different design and construction options, leading to reduced project risk
- Full visualisation of projects for better stakeholder engagement
- Improved collaboration leading to fully coordinated designs, and
- Improved quality by greater use of pre-fabricated elements.
BIM will also enable us to provide customers with an unprecedented level of detail on their new facility, which they can use to run and maintain their assets with greater precision.
