Upgrading Wales’ sewerage systems

This 10 year framework is responsible for improvements to the sewerage networks in south east Wales, which involves the project management, design, construction and maintenance of 400 assets in 33 river basin catchments.

Morgan Sindall is involved in the project from feasibility to handover and regularly liaises closely with the Welsh Assembly Government, local authorities and the Environment Agency. The team have sought best
value solutions through the use of an integrated regional team and the incorporation of the customer’s staff, which has resulted in a better understanding of the customer’s requirements.

There are also sub-projects on the framework which include the design, construction and commissioning of advanced digestion works at both Cardiff and Afan Waste Water Treatment Works. Works include the construction of various concrete bases and structures, including the construction of two 7,500 cubic metre cylindrical concrete digester tanks at Cardiff and two 4,250 cubic metre cylindrical concrete digester tanks at Afan. Enabling works also include site clearance, diversion of existing services and testing piling.
