New pump shaft to improve water supply to London
Working on behalf of Thames Water, Morgan Sindall constructed a new transfer pump shaft to enable pumping from Coppermills to the Thames Water Ring Main (TWRM) and from the TWRM to the Coppermills High Lift Pump Station. This project formed part of a £150 million improvement to the London ring main, helping to ensure security of water supply to the capital. The TWRM is a major part of
London's water supply infrastructure consisting of an 80 kilometre system of three metre concrete pipelines to transfer potable water from treatment works in the Thames and River Lee catchment areas within London.
