Strategic Technologies Facility 

Morgan Sindall undertook the design and construction of a new £7.5 million strategic technologies facility to accommodate 44 people on the existing GSK Tonbridge site.

 

We built a three-storey ‘L-shaped’ complex which comprises two rectangular blocks of laboratories, faced in brickwork. The ground and first floors house laboratories with access to a write-up areas.

 

In between the laboratories is a linked, central office deck which is covered by a barrel vaulted roof. The first floor of the office deck connects to the laboratory areas by lightweight bridges which span a double height void.

 

The main entrance lobby is within the glazed South elevation of the office block. It leads directly to the non-scientific areas such as meeting rooms, sanitary accommodation and support facilities.
