National Biomanufacturing Centre
The National Biomanufacturing Centre is split into four main areas:
· Process development: this area has small-scale fermentation and purification capability where new product processes are optimised
· Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) production: pilot-scale quantities of biopharmaceutical materials, for use in trials in clinical centres such as hospitals, are produced in this area. It houses three production suites and associated support functions. High specification cleanroom technology is used throughout to ensure compliance with current cGMP
· Testing laboratory: This laboratory area is used to support the manufacturing process and to carry out the development of analytical techniques
· Administration facilities.
