Treatment Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Morgan Sindall was employed to design and construct the new North East Surgical Treatment Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The building was designed to ensure the through flow of day surgery patients and to upgrade the staying patient areas to hotel standard.
The new treatment centre consists of four operating theatres capable of full orthopaedic surgery using lamina flow air handling. There is a two-bed pre-surgery preparation area and recovery space, along with 60 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and other treatment and physiotherapy areas.
