Michael Smith Building

The Michael Smith Building provides 21,000m2 of teaching and advanced research facilities for biological scientists, pharmacists and medical researchers. In keeping with the surrounding buildings, the four-storey concrete and steel-framed structure is clad in red terracotta, and interspersed with glazing and metal cladding.

Dedicated plant zones, maintenance track ways and maintenance access routes are available at each floor level. Taking into account the developing requirements of science, this layout will help to reduce disruption and reconfiguration costs when changes to the layout of the building are required in the future.
