Engineering complex, University of Loughborough
We were asked to move the Manufacturing Department and Aeronautical, Automotive and Transport Studies Department to sit alongside the existing engineering buildings.
The building design allows passive natural ventilation and daylight wherever possible, along with local controls for the users for lighting, temperature and ventilation. The building fabric has also been used for moderating heat gain by exposing the heavy elements and allowing for night cooling.
The design reflects the nature of its engineering use with an exposed frame and modular infill panels, whilst taking cues and reflecting the rhythm of the existing Arup buildings.
