Animal welfare and behaviour centre

The project involved the design and construction of the Animal Welfare and Behaviour building for the University of Bristol at the School of Veterinary Science at Langford, Somerset. The project consisted of the construction of a three storey reinforced concrete framed office building to house an academic research group studying the welfare of farm animals.

The Client’s key objective at the start of the project was identified as being the creation of an innovative and demonstrably “green” building that would achieve industry and end user recognition. The BREEAM rating of excellent was achieved, it was the first project undertaken by the university to achieve such a high sustainability status
