Barnsley Digital Media Centre

We built a striking new building which accommodates 120 business units. Each of the floors wraps around a striking, 21-metre glazed atrium in the centre of the building. We used local materials for the cladding, as well as copper panel cassettes. Floor-to-ceiling windows, made of aluminium and timber, are shaded by bronze brise soleil to provide an abundance of natural light.

 

The building includes a number of energy-saving features, including a biomass boiler to heat the building and exposed concrete soffits to provide natural ventilation. In order to complement the building, we installed attractive lifts and used mirrors to create a modern and exciting atmosphere inside.
