As one of the UK’s leading tunnelling businesses we offer customers the all-round capability to deliver projects of all sizes in every type of ground condition.

Our customers receive a bespoke service through our dedicated tunnelling team, sister company UnPS (Underground Professional Services), and the provision of quality assured concrete tunnel linings manufactured in our own purpose-built factory. Our team has helped to pioneer several innovations within the UK tunnelling industry in the past 20 years, including waterproof sprayable membranes, the ‘tunnel beamer’ and the ‘lasershell’ method of tunnel construction. All of these developments are driven by a strong desire to improve the safety and quality of underground works. This approach to innovation allows us greater flexibility to tailor projects individually to customer requirements, using custom-built rather than ‘off the shelf’ solutions.

Current projects include the £422 million Lee Tunnel for Thames Water, which stretches for seven kilometres 90 metres below London and features some of the deepest shafts in Europe. Built as part of the MVB joint venture, the tunnel will improve water quality in the River Lee by intercepting a combined sewer overflow at Abbey Mills Pumping Station, Stratford. We are also delivering the C510 Whitechapel and Liverpool Street Station contract for Crossrail, where we are constructing all station tunnels, as part of the BBMV joint venture.

In addition to the above capabilities, we also offer feasibility and option studies, buildability advice, risk analysis and production of cost estimates.
