Pupils at Beacon Hill School in Ipswich can now enjoy colourful surroundings every break and lunch time after Morgan Sindall gave their playground a free makeover.
The firm, which has offices in Compair Crescent, supplied materials and labour to create a new picket fence around the school’s grounds in Stone Lodge Lane West, which provides specialist education for pupils with learning difficulties.
A team of young decorators from the school, aged 15 and 16, donned their painting gear to help Morgan Sindall add a splash of colour to the fence.
The new fence forms the first part of a makeover Morgan Sindall is carrying out to refurbish and extend the school’s playground free of charge.
The multi-coloured fence was painted to represent a row of pencils and the creative pupils, assisted by Neal Ward, Morgan Sindall health and safety adviser and Derek Foster, Morgan Sindall contracts manager, made short work of finishing the job. In addition, Neal and Derek gave the pupils a lesson in health and safety, to help them understand the importance of staying safe around construction sites.
“We were delighted to offer our services to Beacon Hill School,” says Derek. “The fence will provide a safe boundary to the school enabling pupils to enjoy learning in a bright, safe environment. As a construction company at the heart of the local community, we pride ourselves on our commitment to investing in the areas in which we work.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the school and the enthusiasm of our helpers for the day was fantastic. We look forward to working with them again to complete the next stage of the makeover.”
