Children get a lesson in health and safety

Children from Templars Primary School in Coventry donned goggles, hard hats and hi-visibility jackets as they learnt all about staying safe around building sites at a recent health and safety presentation with construction company Morgan Sindall.

The company is currently building the new £15 million Manufacturing Technology Centre at Ansty Park in Coventry and with other building work also going on in the local area, Morgan Sindall, along with Ivor Goodsite, the construction industry’s mascot, wanted to educate the youngsters about how to stay safe.

Morgan Sindall’s safety, health and environment advisor Nick Manley, says: “Construction sites are extremely dangerous places for unsupervised children and we are urging the community to help us ensure youngsters are not tempted to play on sites this summer.  Everyone who works on a construction site undergoes health and safety training and wears full protective clothing.”  He adds: “The pupils at Templars Primary School really enjoyed trying on all of the protective equipment and learning about how to stay safe.”
