Morgan Sindall, one of the UK’s leading construction and infrastructure specialists, has been awarded a £98,000 contract to provide the piling works for a new basement and ground floor car park for Harrogate International Centre.
Working on behalf of Wates Construction, work will involve using a continuous flight auger method to install 271 bearing piles measuring 450 millimetres in diameter. The piles will range in depths from 4.5 metres to a maximum depth of 11.5 metres in order to compensate for the variety of ground conditions.
To add to this complexity, piling work will take place in close proximity to the Harrogate International Centre which will remain fully operational during the works.
Ceri Hobbs, Morgan Sindall’s piling director and general manager, said: “This is the first project we have undertaken with Wates Construction and we hope to establish a long and successful partnership together.”
The piling begins on 13 August and will last for three weeks.
