Congratulations to our A1 Leeming to Barton project team which has been recognised with a prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award. The Awards recognise achievements and innovations which will improve road safety - each year the most outstanding examples of international road safety initiatives are given public recognition through the scheme. The team collected the award earlier this week from HRH Prince Michael at an awards ceremony at The Savoy in London.

Our A1 Leeming to Barton project was recognised for its 19 month collaboration between the Carillion Morgan Sindall joint venture, North Yorkshire Police, Highways England and supply chain partner, RedSpeed International which between them produced a hierarchical five point change process to improve driver behaviour. This change process consisted of a combination of enforcement, awareness and education to deliver a cultural change in Large Goods Vehicles’ driver behaviour through roadworks. This process is proving to be very successful with a 94 per cent reduction in width and weight violations through roadworks.
