Morgan Sindall plc and its customer St. Modwen, have delivered over 400 Easter eggs to sick children in Birmingham.

The teams delivered the eggs to patients at Birmingham Children’s Hospital along with a donation of £200 and to local charity Acorns, which supports terminally ill children in the region. Morgan Sindall and St. Modwen collected the eggs at the £1 billion new Longbridge Community – where St. Modwen is based and Morgan Sindall is constructing the second phase of the Longbridge Town Centre redevelopment.

Established in 1988, Acorns Children's Hospice Trust is a registered charity offering a network of care for ill children and young people, as well as their families, across the heart of England. These children and young people require specialist care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the last year, Acorns has supported over 760 children and more than 980 families, including those who are bereaved.

Located in Birmingham city centre on Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham Children’s Hospital provides the widest range of children’s health services for young patients from Birmingham and the wider region, with over 257,000 patient visits every year.

Richard Fielding, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: “The children were overwhelmed when the eggs were given to them and it was very touching to see the smiles on their faces. The idea came from colleagues currently working on the Longbridge town centre project, who wanted to make a difference in the community this Easter time.”

Mark Batchelor, Construction Manager at St. Modwen, added: “We have been really impressed with the generosity of staff and members of the public at Longbridge - we hope the chocolate eggs bring some cheer to poorly children in Birmingham this Easter.”

St. Modwen will continue to collect Easter eggs in its distinctive Easter egg collection boxes across Longbridge town centre until 9 April. As a further gesture, St. Modwen will also donate £1 for every egg left in a collection box. The boxes can be found at:
