Morgan Sindall carries out piling at Damascus House in Salisbury
Morgan Sindall has carried out piling works at Damascus House, a state-of-the-art new homeless hostel in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Working in partnership with Salisbury-based charity Alabaré and housing group GreenSquare, Morgan Sindall has installed almost 100 continuous helical displacement piles deep into the ground to provide a solid base for the new building. Morgan Sindall will now excavate around the piles, and install pile caps and ground beams ready for the steel frame structure to be erected.
The new hostel, which is due to be completed in autumn 2011, will include 30 self-contained accommodation units and a range of training facilities. In addition, Morgan Sindall will also carry out internal alterations to the neighbouring Emmaus House, a Grade II listed building, to create eight ‘move-on’ flats to help people make the transition from residing in supported accommodation to living independently.
