Staff from Morgan Sindall took part in a day of bell boat racing along the North Bay at Salford Quays as part of the Construction United campaign. The national initiative aims to improve awareness of mental health, highlight skills shortages and improve the overall perception of the construction sector.

Four teams of 10 paddled the nine-metre-long, twin-hulled boats in a series of sprints along the dock, finishing in front of the Bupa UK corporate membership services building. Three of the boats were crewed by participants from Bupa UK and Morgan Sindall subcontractors E&M Brennan and F.K Group.

The Manchester office of Morgan Sindall, which has its base on the Quays, is currently involved in a design and build project for BUPA Insurance Ltd, which will see the creation of a 148,000 sq ft state-of-the-art flagship office overlooking the city’s waterways.

Morgan Sindall area director in the North West, Barry Roberts, added: “The Construction United initiative highlights issues that affect all of us in the industry and Morgan Sindall is proud to support it across all of our sites.

“In addition, the campaign counts MIND, The Princes Trust and CRASH (the construction sector’s charity for the homeless), as partner charities. Everyone involved in the racing should be commended for supporting these causes.

“As with all of our work, we try to involve our customers in outreach and fundraising activities. We’re pleased to be involved with such an important construction project for Bupa UK and I’d like to thank their team for showing such good spirit and getting involved in the day.”
