Green roof for new church extension

Green roof for new church extension

The Emmanuel United Reformed Church in Worthing is becoming environmentally-friendly thanks to a new green roof.

Morgan Sindall is currently creating an extension at the church to create a link between it and the adjacent church buildings. A sedum roof is just one of the steps being taken to ensure the carbon footprint of the work is minimised.

Andy Littlejohns, church spokesman, says “The new extension and renovation of the existing premises is creating a modern, multi-purpose church and community centre. As a church, looking after the world we live in is of the utmost importance to us. The design of the new building is all about being environmentally friendly and the green roof is the most visible and exciting part of that aspect of the project.”

Morgan Sindall site manager, Bill Brassil says: “The sedum roof is a fantastic addition to the scheme.  We hope local people will continue to enjoy watching the new building take shape over the coming weeks as we complete the work.”
