- TOTAL COST
- RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS
Throughout this Alliance framework, Morgan Sindall has taken responsibility for delivering a programme of improvements to the sewerage network and a number of wastewater treatment works across South Wales.
As part of the customer’s ‘Asset Management Plan 5’ (AMP5) - a five year funding period for water companies’ asset management programmes from 2010-2015 - we have so far delivered more than 350 projects with a total value of £65 million.
Our work encompasses managing all activities required in building, civil engineering and Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA), including:
We also provide Early Contractor Involvement services as part of the framework. This involves working with Welsh Water from the very earliest stages of each project, to support them in delivering best value and a high quality service to their customers.
We have sought to maximise opportunities to use recycled materials on projects as well as reusing material generated on sites that would otherwise be classed as waste.
Through the use of the CL:AIRE (Contaminated Land: Applications in Real Environments) protocol, on our project for the Copper Quarter Development in Swansea approximately 1,600 tonnes of contaminated material excavated on site was reused within the development instead of disposing to landfill. This demonstrated savings in excess of £225,000 and avoided more than 200 lorry movements through the local residential highway network with corresponding carbon savings.
“[Morgan Sindall’s] commitment to continued improvement is unwavering. The judges were particularly impressed by the successful engagement of employees in this process, and the innovative approach to utility strike avoidance monitoring.”On winning a Welsh Water Health and Safety award
